The Quilted Butterfly Wings pattern comes in 3 sizes, Toddler to Adult. It is a beginner project that takes about 1 h, in 6 steps. Best fabrics: satin, organza over satin, glitter tulle over cotton, velvet or quilting cotton.
The butterfly wing has four rounded lobes, two big upper wings and two smaller lower ones, cut as one piece on the fold. The quilted vein lines run from the center back out into each lobe, so a printed satin or glitter tulle over cotton shows them well. For something spikier, the Dragon Wings use the same layer, sew and turn method with a pointed, bat-style outline, and the Fairy Wings have longer, narrower upper wings.

Front: satin, organza over satin, glitter tulle over cotton, velvet or quilting cotton. Back: cotton. Toddler ½ yd of each + ½ yd batting; Kid ¾ yd; Adult 1¼ yd (45 in wide).
