Measure around the head where a hat sits. Band strips are 5¼ in tall and fold double to a 2¼ in band; the hat sits on top of the head like a pillbox.
Wool or acrylic felt (no fraying), quilting cotton, velvet, satin, crushed velour. About ½ yd of each color; ¼ yd for the band and crown. Fusible interfacing on cotton points helps them hold shape.

Seam allowance: ⅜ in (1 cm) included on the points; band and circle measurements include it too. Finish the crown seam inside for cotton, velvet or satin.
