Baby Booties

The baby bib is free in the app and takes about 20 minutes. It comes in three neck sizes: newborn (9½ in), baby (10½ in) and toddler (11½ in), and the snap gives about an inch of adjustment.

The booties and Mary Janes are sized by foot length, from 3¾ in (0 to 3 months) to 5¼ in (12 to 18 months). Each pair takes about 1½ hours and fits on a quarter yard of fabric.

The hooded baby towel pattern comes in baby (30 in), toddler (36 in) and kid (40 by 48 in) sizes, in terry or waffle toweling with little ears on the hood. The wipes pouch has a wipe-clean lining and a front pocket.

The girls A-line dress goes from 1 to 8 years and is chosen by chest. The crown and the cape are quick dress-up makes. For a reader, the Reading Pillow comes in a kid size, with a pocket for a book.

A baby shower set

A bib, a pair of booties and a hooded towel make a good gift together. Sewing time is about 20 minutes, 1½ hours and 1 hour, so roughly 3 hours for the set. More ideas are in baby shower gifts to sew.

Fabric and safety

Pre-wash everything, because baby things get washed often and cotton shrinks. Use soft cotton, flannel, double gauze or terry next to the skin. Keep buttons, beads and small trims off anything for a baby, and check snaps are pressed fully closed.

Questions

What is the easiest baby gift to sew?

The bib. It is free, about 20 minutes and only needs a snap.

How do I choose a bootie size?

Measure the baby's foot from heel to longest toe and pick the size with the nearest foot length. Between sizes, go up.

Is the hooded towel hard?

No. It is beginner level and takes about an hour. The binding around the edge is the longest part.
