Quilting cotton for the covering strip: it is the right weight, canvas or double layers get too thick for the buckle slots. Nylon or polypropylene webbing under it, width per size.
You also need
- Nylon or polypropylene webbing, width per size
- Quilting cotton, 1 fat quarter (collar + bow; leash ¼ yd cut lengthwise or pieced)
- 1 contoured side-release buckle, 1 tri-glide, 1 welded metal D-ring, all the webbing width
- Leash: 1 swivel bolt snap
- Polyester thread, jeans needle 90/14 or 100/16, clips, lighter
Pattern pieces
Strip (cut 1 on fold, fold across the fabric), Bow (cut 2 on fold), Knot (cut 1 on fold), Loop (cut 1 on fold)
Seam allowance: ⅜ in (1 cm) on the bow pieces; the strip has none.
